Merchandise guidelines

New guidelines are in effect for the 2024 season.

We are a small market in the center of Beacon. Please consider other markets in the area if you don’t fit this market’s requirements. I want everyone to have a successful selling day!

You must specialize in selling vintage, retro, antique, architectural elements, and collectibles. Attic clean-outs or yard sale items must fall under the category of vintage. I am not accepting any further requests from vendors with contemporary second hand items.

Up-cycled, re-purposed and strictly hand made items are on a case by case - depending on how many other ‘handmade jewelry’ (for example) vendors I already have. Be prepared to submit links or photos of your work and your set-up at past shows (where applicable).

Community outreach organizations are welcome to apply.

Unaceptable Items

I will not accept vendors of New Merchandise, Food or Beverages, Beauty Products, Bulk Selling, Socks, Soaps and Shampoo, Pyramid Schemes, As-Seen-On-TV, Reps/Soliciting from companies or corporations, such as bath re-do, window installing, solar panels, insurance, etc. Absolutely no Essential Oils, Paparazzi Jewelry, Wax melts, candles and anything ‘hand made’ that looks mass produced or source mass produced products, or is ‘designed by me, but manufactured’.

No religious or political information or handouts.

Prohibited Items: Fireworks, Pyrotechnics, Weapons/Guns, Chemicals, Controlled Substances, Pornography, Counterfeit Products, Tobacco products.

Variety: You must have a variety of items, and enough items to fill at least one six foot table.

Repeat vendors: If you plan to be a repeat vendor you absolutely must refresh your merchandise and set up. Bring different items each week to entice your repeat customers and build loyalty. Give them an experience they’ll want to return for!

fees and set up

Vendor Fees:
ALL vendors are now required to park their car in their space. Parking in Beacon is limited - save it for your customers. Fees Paid at Entrance. Fees cover admin, staffing, bathroom facilities, storage, garbage, insurance and my rent to the City of Beacon.

Your space is loosely based on the length of your vehicle. Your vehicle is in your space. You get the length of your vehicle by no more than 10 feet out towards the aisle. This is enough space for about four 6’ tables and a 10x10 tent.

Fees and spaces are at the managements discretion.

Cars/SUVs (space is @ 15ft long x 10ft deep) $45
Van or Pick Up (20"ft x 10ft) $55

Box Truck (22ft x 10"ft) or additional space $60

Vehicle + small trailer (22ft x 10ft) - $60
Vehicle + large trailer/24ft+ truck (24+ft x 10ft) - $75

Beacon resident discount of $5
Non-profit $0 for three events per year. $20 per Sunday after that.

Please consider getting your NYS sales Tax Number. NYS Department of Taxation and Finance 518-457-5181.

How it works

A Monday evening email calling for vendors to sign up for the upcoming Sunday will hit your inbox. Respond ‘Yes’ if you can join us. Delete if you can’t. No explanation necessary.

If I Can Accommodate you, you will receive a mid-week confirmation email, and a follow up with instructions for the day. You must have your fee in correct change or a check made out to Beacon Flea Market as you enter. Do not enter the lot before 6.00am. You will be assigned a space upon arrival. All spaces are assigned by management. I will always ask you to move closer to your neighbor. Your set up must be front bumper to rear bumper of your vehicle. Do not block the aisle or create trip hazards. I will ask you to remove your tent if the tent legs prove to be a hazard in the aisle. There is no discussion required!

If you are not on my list you will be asked to wait until I have a no-show.

No discussion required! Please don’t hold up the line and block traffic.

The market load-in is first come first serve, nose to tail. The center spaces are the last to fill. I do not discount for center spaces, tight spaces, neighbor encroachment, sudden inclement weather, etc. I can not guarantee you a space, especially if you arrive late. Early departure (unless pre-arranged with management) is not tolerated and you will not be invited to return.

I always prefer a conversation over confrontation.

expectations

No loud noises or honking while waiting to enter - residential area. Keep set up noises to a minimum.

Flea Market closes at 3pm. Please respect your customers and fellow vendors by staying open for the duration of the market. Do not attempt to leave before 3pm. You run the risk of damage to people and property. If you know you need to leave early please let Management know. If you consistently leave early your request to return will be denied. All vendors must be out by 4.30pm.

Trash barrels are for customers only, PLEASE CARRY OUT YOUR TRASH. If you leave trash your request to vend again will be declined. Do not leave FREE piles. I have to pay to remove them, and I will pass that fee back onto you. Do not dump trash by the law office dumpster. It is not for flea market use.

If you bring your dog it must be leashed at all times, as per City code.

Smoking is no longer tolerated in the lot.

Bad weather - This is a fair weather market and will run unless severe weather, excessive heat or rain is forecast or occurs. If inclement weather occurs during a Flea vendors may leave early - no refunds given. I will attempt to make the cancellation decision by 6pm Saturday evening and will email. Otherwise - check the Facebook page for cancellations should bad weather be in the forecast. On the day I check for incoming weather systems and will do my utmost to sound the alert with time to pack and run! However, be prepared and bring a roll of plastic for the odd surprise rain shower.
